Montreal Impact vs. Toronto FC: 10 Bold Predictions

Frank Klopas’s Montreal Impact and Ryan Nelsen’s Toronto FC battle it out one last time for the chance to lift the Voyageurs Cup and represent Canada at the 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League in the second leg of the 2014 Amway Canadian Championship final. This match at Stade Saputo in Montreal, Que. is sure to have massive job implications for both managers as the rivalry between Montreal and Toronto comes to a full head of steam in La Belle Province.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by Sportsnet One. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for Wednesday night’s match between the Montreal Impact and Toronto FC.

1. Doneil Henry will score

Doneil Henry has been clutch in the Canadian Championship, and he will be on goal to help Toronto inch one step closer to the title of the best team in Canada. Henry will score in the first half.

2. Jack McInerney will score

This season, Jack McInerney has three goals to his credit and has been a boost to L’Impact ever since he came from Philadelphia. Watch for Jack Mac to score in the first half.

3. Evan Bush with under five saves

Goalkeeper Evan Bush should get the start in this match, as he has been reliable for Montreal during the Canadian Championship. The MLS Multiplex is boldly predicting for under five saves from Bush in a game full of shots.

4. Joe Bendik with under five saves

Bush’s counterpart is expected, by the Plex, to be Toronto FC goalkeeper Joe Bendik, who is filling in for Julio Cesar. Bendik has four saves in league play and will have under five saves in Wednesday night’s match between the Reds and L’Impact.

5. Marco Di Vaio on goal

If there was ever a time for Marco Di Vaio to finally score for the Montreal Impact this season, this is the game. Di Vaio will finally snap out his slump and score in the second half for the home side on Wednesday.

6. Andres Romero on goal

Andres Romero has three goals this season for Montreal this season and will need to get on goal to put the Impact in a position to win. Romero will score in the second half against Toronto.

7. Jermain Defoe with a brace

Jermain Defoe was on the bench for Toronto FC against Montreal last Wednesday, but he needs to start this Wednesday to give the Reds a chance to prevail. Defoe will show his class with a goal apiece in the first and second halves.

8. No goals from Daniel Lovitz

Toronto midfielder Daniel Lovitz was called to action in TFC’s 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew on Saturday at BMO Field. Lovitz will get at least one assist, but he will not score in this game against Montreal.

9. At least 40 fouls and five cards

This has all the makings of a domestic cup final. Well, it actually IS a cup final, so look for plenty of heavy action to go around. At least 40 fouls will be whistled and five cards will be issued.

10. Toronto return to the CONCACAF Champions League

On the wings of the away goals rule, Toronto FC will win the Canadian Championship and return to the CONCACAF Champions League. Toronto won four of the last five Canadian Championships. They will make it five of the last six.
