Jameis Winston will need to find more room in his trophy case to make room for his newest accolade as the Florida State quarterback was named the 61st recipient of the Anthony J. McKevlin Award, given annually to the male athlete of the year in the ACC.

Winston made history as the redshirt freshman captured the Heisman Trophy, only the second freshman to win the award, and became the first freshman quarterback to win the national championship when the Seminoles defeated the Auburn Tigers on a touchdown pass from Winston to Kelvin Benjamin in the final seconds.

Winston edged former Pittsburgh Panthers defensive tackle who was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in addition to winning the Nagurski, Lombardi, Outland and Benarik awards while garnering first team All-American honors like Winston. Donald was the No. 13 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams.

If Winston repeats his success from a year ago he will join Donald as a first round pick as he could be in the running for the No. 1 overall pick if he elects to come out for the draft after his redshirt sophomore season this winter.

His exploits on the gridiron weren’t the only reason Winston won the award as he doubles as a pitcher on the Florida State baseball team.

Winston set national freshman records last year when he threw for 4,057 yards and 40 touchdowns. He enters the 2014 season on the shortlist to win a second Heisman which has only been done one time in the history of the award by Ohio State running back, Archie Griffin.
