On Sunday morning, news broke suggesting that the Cleveland Cavaliers may very well trade Kyrie Irving if he didn’t accept the five-year, $90 million dollar contract extension the team is set to offer. It’s a sentiment that made sense considering the Cavaliers obviously don’t want to lose their star point guard for nothing and the longer they’d wait, the less of a return they’d receive.

However, it appears as if there is some positive news regarding the contractual talks as not only are the Cavs en route to Kyrie Irving’s home to offer him such a deal, he appears somewhat more receptive to such.

Rumors swirled for months suggesting that Irving wasn’t thrilled with the moves the organization had made and that he was reluctant to commit going forward, however the recent addition of David Blatt may have changed his mind according to Chris Broussard of ESPN.

“Most positive talk I’ve ever heard between Kyrie & Cavs.”

Of course, considering the vast majority of their talks likely didn’t go positive, this is certainly a step in the right direction. And while the addition of Blatt I’m sure was intriguing for Irving, given the head coach’s impressive resume, I’m thinking the addition of Andrew Wiggins may have been a bigger piece.

Whatever the case may be, it sounds as if Kyrie Irving is (at least right now) more open to signing an extnesion with the Cleveland Cavaliers which is a far cry from what looked to be the case even as shortly as a month ago.
