This is the possibly the first and last time we’ll ever hear this in our lives: teams have begun turning away from superstar LeBron James in free agency.

If you’re unclear from Windhorst’s tweet, teams aren’t willing to wait it out to see if they are the winners of the LeBron James free agency sweepstakes. By doing so, teams will put themselves in the position to miss out on other top tier free agents who could immediately improve the team.

More from LeBron James

By the look of things, LeBron is returning to the Miami Heat, barring a drastic change in his current thinking. In 2010, James made it his business to meet with teams to see what they had to offer going forward. Now, James is currently out of the country checking out the World Cup while his management handles all free agent meetings. This isn’t the sign of a man whose looking to possibly go elsewhere, and if you want to see one, look in the direction of Carmelo Anthony who just met with the Chicago Bulls and has other meetings planned.

By using his early-termination option, James has gotten what he’s wanted out of the other two-thirds of the Big 3. Both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh followed James’ direction, using their ETO’s to take a pay cut in order to improve the supporting cast around the three. Based on several reports, the Heat could have ~$12 million to spend on the supporting cast, hopefully adding a fourth star (Lowry, Deng, Ariza) to the fold.

If Miami is able to do that, then James will absolutely return on something close to a max deal. And teams are aware of this, having moved on from the Chosen One in hopes to find talent elsewhere.
