The Oklahoma Sooners made one of the most interesting moves of the college football offseason on Thursday when they announced that they have officially added former Missouri Tigers wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham to their roster for the 2014 season.

This has led many to question whether or not the former no. 1 overall recruit in the nation could play for the Sooners this season as they look to capitalize on their Sugar Bowl win from last season with a run at the national championship.

There is a chance that he could take the field for the Sooners in 2014, however that chance is about as close to zero percent as one could possibly get.

Only being two years out of high school, Green-Beckham, who was booted off the Missouri team this offseason following a string of off-the-field incidents, has now transferred to an FBS level school. With that being said, and with him not having his undergraduate degree from Missouri, he’s not eligible to play until the 2015 season.

Of course, he could ask for a waiver from the NCAA, however given his particular circumstances, it’s highly unlikely that he will be granted one.

In reality, there’s a good chance that Green-Beckham never plays a down for the Sooners. He could just sit out this season as a member of the football team, and choose to enter the 2015 NFL Draft, when he will be three years removed from high school.

The consensus has been that Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops did this as a favor for Green-Beckham and his family, who he grew very close with while he was recruiting him out of high school.
