If there is one school who has an imprint on Nike’s “The Opening” this week at the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, it’s the Alabama Crimson Tide.

More from College Football

No school in the country can match the 10 commits Alabama has participating at the All-Star camp this week, and it’s no surprise to see why Nick Saban has once again assembled the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the nation.

Quarterback Blake Barnett, ATH Shawn Burgess-Beckner, offensive linemen Richie Petitbon, Dallas Warmack and Lester Cotton, cornerbacks Montrell Custis and Minkah Fitzpatrick, defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter, wide receiver Calvin Ridley and safety Deionte Thompson are the 10 in attendance.

Texas A&M is the only other program needing two hands to count the number of kids they have representing the university with Georgia coming in third with five.

The Opening is an opportune time for the committed to recruit the uncommitted as they are not going to be spending this much time together until the Under Armour and U.S. Army All-American Games this coming winter, so you have to take advantage of the proximity and sell your school to your school’s targets.

That’s exactly what seven of the 10 did on Tuesday.

I have a feeling the 10 Alabama commits in attendance will serve as an extension of coach Nick Saban’s staff and work on recruiting a number of the four and five-star recruits at The Opening and ensure that Alabama finishes with the No. 1 class yet again.
