The quarterbacks had all the attention at The Opening on Sunday and Monday, but wide receiver and Alabama commit, Calvin Ridley, made a play during the drills on Tuesday afternoon that will have people talking about him for the rest of the week, if not longer.

More from College Football

Ridley (Pompano Beach, Fla. Monarch) is the nation’s No. 40 player overall regardless of position, the No. 6 wide receiver and the No. 9 player in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Rankings.

The 6-2, 170-pound receiver who goes by the nickname “Showtime” sure put on a show at the Nike headquarters and is sure to see rise up the rankings after a catch that was called “one of the best one handed catches you will ever see” by ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton and left Duke Shelley wondering what more he could do do defend the pass.

The “ooh’s” and “aah’s” that came from the star-studded crowd was a moment that he will never forget and if Ridley continues to show out the rest of the week as he did here, he will be a tough man to cover.

Ridley committed to Alabama on April 19 this year and is part of the Crimson Tide’s No. 1 ranked class. He had 41 receptions for 1,131 yards and 12 touchdowns last year as a junior. The rich getting richer, indeed.
