The ownership saga of the Buffalo Bills marches on as this week’s update includes yet another Western New York native tossing his hat in the ring as a prospective bidder. This one separates himself by hoping to combine with a hallowed name in Buffalo.

More from Buffalo Bills

Amherst native Jeffrey Gundlach is reportedly interested in purchasing the Buffalo Bills, per Tim Graham of the Buffalo News. Graham also notes that Gundlach has reached out to Hall-of-Famer and Buffalo sports legend Jim Kelly to form a group to bid on the team.

This isn’t the first time that Kelly’s name has been linked to ownership of the Bills. Kelly has long been confident the team would stay, but remained short on details. The struggles were compounded for Kelly when he was diagnosed with cancer. His name has obviously been out of any ownership headlines while he recovers — until now.

In Gundlach, the Bills find a bidder who hails from Amherst, NY who is the primary shareholder of a company worth $50 billion in assets. Of course, you’ll forgive Bills fans their hesitance for throwing their full support behind a businessman who currently lives in Los Angeles, given all the talk surrounding the Bills potentially moving to LA. Gundlach maintains he would keep the team in Buffalo.

The Bills are in the process of gathering bids and sending out to sale packets to all prospective bidders so don’t expect much news beyond potential buyers until at least the end of the summer.
