On Monday afternoon, former NBA point guard Baron Davis confirmed reports that he was seeking a comeback and was currently in the midst of training to join an NBA team this season. Who exactly Davis had eyes on at the time was unknown, though he appears to have a favorite in mind now.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Davis hasn’t played in the NBA for a few seasons after dealing with a rash of injuries and it was thought his career was all but over. However, Davis stated that he was determined to get back on the hardwood and now has interested in teaming up with LeBron James as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“Cleveland always has a special place in my heart because when I got traded there, people doubted whether I’d ever play and those fans embraced me and the organization embraced me,” Davis said. “At that time, I needed Cleveland more than Cleveland needed me.”

Davis is of course just one of many veteran players who will likely express interest in playing alongside James in the near future and it’s understandable as to why. Of course, it’s a question mark as to what Davis can bring to the floor considering he’s been out of the league and was mildly infective during his final few seasons in the NBA.

Still, at a time Baron Davis was one of the most electrifying point guards in the league however that time has likely come and gone.

That said, it will be a heartwarming story if he actually returns to the NBA and can be effective in doing so.
