The Golden State Warriors have been linked to trade rumors involving Kevin Love for weeks now. But an alleged reluctance to include Klay Thompson has derailed talks and the two sides no longer appear to be working on a deal at this point.

That may continue as Warriors general manager Bob Myers doesn’t feel the team needs a big upgrade.

“What I think people often do and maybe sometimes make the mistake doing is pull the trigger quickly on your roster without giving it time to develop,” Myers said. “And we think we’ve got a lot of youth, and we do think we’ve got a higher ceiling than 51 [wins last season]. We like our roster. Obviously if you’re not good enough, you’ve got to make changes, but we think we’re good.”

While Myers may have a point, I’d be hard pressed to think that if Kevin Love were available for the right price, they wouldn’t make the move. It’s also a little difficult to believe that the inclusion of Klay Thompson is the lone reason holding up a potential deal, though we may never know the full reasons as to why the two sides haven’t been able to find a middle ground.

Still, with or without Kevin Love, the Golden State Warriors look poised to have yet another fantastic season. Life might be a bit easier with the All-Star power forward on their roster, but as Myers states, the team isn’t in desperate need of a massive upgrade.

I doubt we’ve heard the last of the talks, however.
