The Nebraska Cornhuskers were having themselves a fine offseason run on the recruiting trail, but it appears it will be back to the drawing board at safety after recent commit Hunter Dale backed off his commitment to Bo Pelini and the Huskers.

Dale took an unofficial visit earlier this week and announced his commitment to the Huskers shortly after that visit. However, the New Orleans, La. native apparently had second thoughts after returning home and took to twitter to let the world know he was no longer committed to the Huskers.

It took just two days to go from committed member of Husker nation to someone with a wide-open recruitment again. For Nebraska its a blow to a class that has been on a steady rise. With Dale a part of its class the Huskers have moved up seven spots in the national team rankings, coming in at No. 26 and No. 5 in the Big Ten rankings as well.

Taking Dale out of the mix puts the Huskers somewhere in the mid-30’s again. Nebraska has room for multiple safeties in the 2015 class, having already landed a verbal commitment from 3-star Aaron Williams out of Atlanta.

Dale isn’t just an outstanding safety, he’s also interested in playing baseball at the collegiate level and that could be a deciding factor in where he eventually ends up.
