Former South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia is on the college football subreddit doing a “Ask Me Anything” session. It is an event where fans can ask people anything, and they’ll respond and so far it has been incredible, maybe one of the best.

Here are some of the best questions and answers (exactly as it was typed):

Q: Please tell us about the thoughts that went through your head when you committed the safety during the home game vs. Alabama. Also if possible, tell us about the time you got tackled by the ref.

A: i didn’t want to get smushed by a 350 lb lineman chasing me from behind, plus we were in a comfortable lead. that sneaky damn ref came outta nowhere!! Pretty embarrassing feeling haha

Q: My question is, were you actually hungover before the 2010 bowl game against FSU and, if so, how hungover exactly were you?

A: absolutely not…the rumors of that week are hilarious, but it was the FIRST night in Atlanta, not the night before the game. That is ridiculous

Q: Outside of football, what was the craziest thing you can legally tell us that you did or witnessed during your time at South Carolina

A: oh man…..thats a tough one, a legal story is going to be a tough one to tell haha. Ill have cousin TY tell you the freshman stories….

Q: (From a Georgia fan) From the point-of-view of a visiting player, which stadiums were the best/most fun to visit? And which stadiums were the worst?

A: Hell, you UGA fans were the worst at trash talking!!! I love athens though and winning there!

Q: What is your favorite aspect of football?

A: getting paid under the table…. but seriously, just the team atmosphere and the interaction with the fans. Theres really nothing like playing college football. It was an experience that Ill never forget

Q: What was your favorite game to play in?

A: Bama in 10, and in Gainseville beating the gators for the SEC east. I loved shutting all those fans up, especially since I’m from Florida haha. Its always fun winning on the road though

Q: Was there a team that you just loved going up against? What was your favorite away stadium to play in? What was the loudest away stadium you played in?

A: I love competition so playing against every SEC team was awesome. Fav place away from home was probably either Bama, or Tennessee. Those stadiums were pretty damn impressive! loudest was our house when we played against Ole Miss when they were #4 and when we played Bama when they were #1. I could feel the ground shaking, I kid you not

Q: How much did you hate/dislike/respect UGA?

A: I have nothing but respect for UGA. It is a very good rivalry and I had a blast playing those games.

Q: For all 4 years you are in school, you can go 11-1 losing to Clemson every time or go 1-11 beating Clemson every time. Which do you pick? How about just for any 1 season?

A: 11-1 and lose to Clemson. Clemson is a giant rivalry but playing for the SEC championship was something Ill never forget. Also, I don’t know what losing to clemson feels like so i can’t really give a honest answer haha

Q: How crazy was that Alabama game for the players? The student section was absolutely insane.

A: It was simply insane. We knew we were going to play well and everyone executed to perfection! That was such a great day for SC

Q: Do you still stay in contact with alshon Jeffery, and how did it feel to beat that Alabama team? As a long-time gamecock fan, that was one of the best moments of my life and I’m sure it was of yours as well.

A: I talk to him weekly. As good as a player he was, he was an even better teammate. That bama game will always be remembered and I am so fortunate to be part of it. SC hasn’t looked back since!

Q: What’s the best pick up line you’ve ever used or what’s your go to?

A: usually the long flowing locks sealed the deal. hahaha

Q: Who would win in a drinking contest between the former Spurrier QBs? You, Palmer or Shaw? Or Spurrier?

A: me easily. haha

Q: Where do you stand on player compensation?

A: PAY THE PLAYERS! You gotta think about how much the players and college football brings in to the schools. The tuition and all that doesn’t even come close to what we bring in. It is hard to figure out a solution though…

Q: I’ve heard many stories about your reasoning to come to South Carolina to play ball. Mainly that you believed people in Florida took football too seriously and you thought you could kinda just float at Carolina without issue. Any truth to this? What was it like leading Beating Florida in 2010 to win the east for the first time in school history and leading the team to Atlanta.

A: zero truth to that. The thing that NOBODY understands is that I busted my ass every day. I liked to have a good time with my teammates and Im a social guy so I think people got the impression that I didn’t care or didn’t work hard. I went to SC to start a new tradition there and I think it worked. Everyone always talks about that bama game, but beating UF in gainseville was awesome!
