The Detroit Lions will be honoring late owner William Clay Ford Sr. during the 2014-15 regular season. When the team steps out onto the field each and every week, William Clay Ford Sr. will be right there with them.

The team unveiled a special commemorative patch that will be worn on their jerseys during the season.

We will first see the patch on the uniforms in the team’s regular season opener on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants on Sept. 8 at Ford Field.

The patch is a black football with team colored stripes behind the initials “WCF.”

Lions writer Tim Twentyman showed off a photo of the patch on social media earlier this week.

William Clay Ford Sr. was a big part of the Detroit Lions organization, so it is great to see that he will be remembered and honored when they take the field this season.
