Mississippi State continues building a deep and talented group of 2015 commitments as the Bulldogs received the commitment from three-star safety Mark McLaurin (Collins, Miss. Collins) on Thursday.

The 6-3, 200-pound safety is the nation’s No. 883 recruit overall regardless of position, No. 62 ranked safety and the No. 19 recruit in the state of Mississippi, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

McLaurin has been a frequent visitor to Starkville dating back to last year and has attended three separate Mississippi State camps and took three other unofficial visits to the SEC west school.

Less than one week removed from Big Dawg Camp when Mississippi State received seven commitments for this year’s class, McLaurin adds to the depth of this year’s class for Dan Mullen that currently has 26 commitments.

Of the 26 commitments are four-star safety, Jamal Peters and three-star safety Jarvis Wilson to give the Bulldogs three commitments from the safety position.

With the addition of McLaurin, Mississippi State owns the nation’s No. 10 class in the nation and the No. 6 class in the SEC.

Mississippi State is expected to have a strong season in 2014 with a number of returning starters on both sides of the ball, including Heisman dark horse candidate Dak Prescott taking snaps behind center to give Mullen a shot at fielding his best team in his tenure in Starkville.

If the Bulldogs deliver on that hype, their top-10 recruiting class could continue to get stronger and deeper with some big wins this fall.
