Joe Philbin, Miami Dolphins

By all accounts, Philbin should consider himself lucky he’s lasted this long. In his second year on the job, he bettered the team’s record from 7-9 to 8-8. That’s about where the positives end.

The Dolphins’ 2013 campaign will be remembered for an epic collapse — they squandered a potential Wild Card spot and missed the playoffs — and the now-infamous bullying scandal. Both the team’s on-field and off-field performance suffered at the hands of Philbin, who couldn’t right a fast sinking ship.

Ultimately, former general manager Jeff Ireland took the fall for Philbin, a sacrifice that cost him his job. Dennis Hickey is now calling the shots, and the new GM has zero loyalty with the holdover coach. The Fins will need to win the division for Philbin to avoid the same fate as Ireland.
