Rex Ryan, New York Jets

That the Jets finished 8-8  in 2013 with a talent-depleted roster and a wildly inconsistent rookie quarterback was nothing short of a miraculous. But it’ll require much more than mediocrity for the once-boisterous Ryan to remain in the Big Apple.

Following back-to-back trips to the AFC Championship Game in 2009 and 2010, New York has failed to qualify for the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. Much of that stems from Ryan, whose offensive-challenged coaching style doesn’t jive with today’s NFL. Need I remind of the epically bad Tim Tebow experiment?

Over his six-year tenure, Ryan has gone through two offensive coordinators and one general manager. The scapegoats are gone for Gang Green, and Rex is squarely in the spotlight. Even owner Woody Johnson, arguably Ryan’s biggest supporter, has run out of patience. With Ryan recently claiming he’s a great coach, it’s time to put his reputation where his mouth is or face the chopping block.
