Todd Gurley receives lofty praise from Georgia Bulldogs legendary RB Herschel Walker
Herschel Walker is the best running back to ever play for the Georgia Bulldogs and has some high praise for a player who hopes to be mentioned in the same breath as the Dawgs great when he finishes his career in Athens.

Todd Gurley enters his junior season with high hopes that he can lead the Bulldogs to the SEC title and be the workhorse rusher with Keith Marshall returning from a torn ACL and lessen the pressure on first-year starting quarterback, Hutson Mason, who is taking over for the SEC’s all-time leading passer, Aaron Murray.
Walker thinks Gurley is up to the task.
"“Todd is a tough, tough ballplayer,” Walker said, according to dawgs247.com. “He’s a very, very good ballplayer. The guy has got so much talent, and when you watch him play, you know that he can go to the next level with no problem.”"
Both Walker and Gurley burst onto the scene as true freshmen (Walker should have won the Heisman) and Gurley hopes to follow in his footsteps as a junior and win the Heisman in what likely will be his final season before declaring for the NFL Draft in 2015.
A direct comparison, however, may be unfair considering the way the game has evolved over the last 30 years.
“When I came to Georgia they were looking for a running back that was set up for that running system. And when I was there we ran the ball a lot, whereas the game now has switched so much to a passing game. So I think it’s very unfair to compare athletes, because the system players are in makes a big, big difference,” Walker said.
Gurley also hopes to add a national title that Walker won as a freshman in 1980.
Provided the 230-pound Gurley avoids the injuries that slowed him as a sophomore, why couldn’t Gurley buck recent trend and win the Heisman over some of the lauded quarterbacks in college football and lead Georgia to the College Football Playoff?
