Will they or won’t they? That’s the feeling around Major League Baseball regarding the Tampa Bay Rays and their desire (or lack of) to trade ace pitcher David Price.

More from MLB Trade Rumors

Unlike other big pitching names on the market (Jon Lester), David Price still has a year remaining on his contract so he’s not the typical rental type player you see made available prior to the trade deadline. That in itself is enough to create trade problems, but the fact that the Tampa Bay Rays are now winning and boost one of the best pitching rotations in baseball has thrown another wrench into the trade scenario.

Still, despite all of this, the Tampa Bay Rays say they are ‘open-minded’ about a deal according to ESPN’s Jayson Stark.

"The Rays are telling other teams they won’t make any decisions about buying or selling until the final 24 hours before the deadline, and that they’re still “open-minded” about moving David Price and other players if the right offer comes along."

In short, that sounds like the typical ‘give us who we want and we’ll pull the trigger’ type comment.

Thanks to David Price being under contract next season, the Tampa Bay Rays are really in no pressure to make a trade as they can shop him again this Winter or even during the 2015 trade deadline if they so incline.

So will David Price be moved? That’s still a question you can’t fully answer, though if he is, it sounds like it will only be because the Tampa Bay Rays got exactly what they wanted.
