Although Derrick Rose was disappointed that Carmelo Anthony decided to spurn the Chicago Bulls in free agency and re-sign with the New York Knicks, he’s apparently not crying himself to sleep over it.

More from Chicago Bulls

Derrick Rose, who has been working out with Team USA in Las Vegas expressed happiness that the franchise was able to snag Pau Gasol out of a crowded free agent market and hinted that the Spaniard is essentially their missing piece.

The former NBA MVP was asked what he thought about the addition by the Chicago Sun Times.

“Great, great,’’ Derrick Rose said. “When you think about Gasol, him winning championships and bringing that experience to our team and him being around our bigs like Joakim [Noah], and talking to them and giving them advice? Like, c’mon, I think that’s all we needed.’’

There’s no doubt the Chicago Bulls weren’t exactly lacking in the talent department (assuming Rose is healthy) so the addition of a player who brings NBA championship experience is obviously a welcome addition.

In addition to the Bulls, the Los Angeles Lakers (Gasol’s former team), the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs were all said to covet the veteran big man. However, playing in the Windy City seemed to be Gasol’s preferred destination as not only are the Chicago Bulls expected to contend for a title, but he’ll also be able to play a significant amount of minutes for the Bulls. That wasn’t a situation any other team could present the former All-Star, so it seems as if the two were a perfect match.
