According to a recent report, HTC will be releasing a new version of the popular One M8 that will feature the Windows operating system. Known has the HTC One W8 — clever, we know — is the phone developers first entry into the Windows Phone marketplace, according to Engadget.

So far, HTC has only developed phones running the Android operating system.

It’s rumored that the HTC One W8 will run on Windows Phone 8.1 and include BoomSound speakers, voice over LTE support and depth-sensing Duo camera.

Microsoft and HTC have declined to comment on the rumor. Microsoft stated that the company doesn’t talk about rumors and speculations.

Mike’s Musings: If the only difference between the HTC One M8 and W8 is the operating system, then I think Windows Phone lovers, no matter how small, will have a new manufacture to go for the best phone on the market. We’ll see just how good the phone is when it ultimately gets released. I’m still not a believer that Windows Phone will ever appeal to more than niche market. Then again, stranger things have happened.
