On Sunday it was announced that Michigan Wolverines’ wide receiver Csont’e York was suspended indefinitely from the football team. Details on the what, where and why were not readily known and his suspension remained quite the mystery.

All the school would say is the typical “violation of team rules,” line that so many use in suspending players. Head coach Brady Hoke released a statement announcing the suspension on Sunday.

“We demand that every person in our program represent the University of Michigan and the Michigan football program the right way on and off the field,” Hoke said in the statement. “When people fall short of that, there are consequences.”

Leave it to beat writers to get to the bottom of the issue though, as multiple outlets have reported York’s suspension is because he is involved in an ongoing investigation by Ann Arbor Police.

Yet, according to the Detroit Free Press, York has yet to be charged or arrested for anything:

“He has not been charged with a crime. No other details were made available. He is not listed in Ann Arbor court records”

Last season, as a freshman, York made just one appearance in a game but was on pace to see an increased role in the Wolverines passing game this season.

It remains to be seen if the sophomore will chose to use this season as a redshirt given his suspension or how this will all play out. However, given the lack of true depth at wide receiver, losing anyone at any point is a serious blow.
