The burning Hunter Pence with funny signs thing has become a meme. It started in New York with a couple creative Mets fans and now it’s spreading. The phenomenon hit Milwaukee Tuesday in a big way, as the Giants visited Miller Park (via Brewers Facebook).

More from Milwaukee Brewers

With the spread of Hunter Pence burn sign mania, there are bound to be some weak efforts. Not every fan is going to be as clever as every other fan. I personally don’t think any of these are as good as the first couple, including the immortal “Hunter Pence puts ketchup on his hot dogs.”

“Hunter Pence still has a blockbuster card” isn’t bad. “Hunter Pence lives in a van down by the river” is acceptable only because it’s Wisconsin and Chris Farley went to the University of Wisconsin, so it comes off as homage to a local hero.

“Hunter Pence has Sharknado insurance” sucks because it’s too predictable. “Hunter Pence DVRs Full House reruns” is passable.

There will be many many more of these to pick apart in the coming days as more fans jump on this bandwagon. I can’t wait until the trend starts to eat itself. “Hunter Pence makes signs about Hunter Pence.” That’s when you’ll know it’s over.
