Was LeBron James jealous of Dwayne Wade during their time together as members of the Miami Heat? The idea seems hilarious to suggest considering the two appeared to be the best of buddies. Despite that, we all know of LeBron James’ ego and there may appear to be more than meets the eye regarding their friendship.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

When LeBron James was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, he had the perfect scenario. He not only was the top pick in the draft but he also got to play for his hometown franchise. It’s something you dream of doing as a kid and James lived the life. Alas, it wasn’t enough as he ventured to South Beach to team with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh where the trio won two NBA Championships in four seasons. All seemed to be great, right?

Maybe to a point.

Although LeBron James was the man on the court for the Miami Heat, he wasn’t always the man off of it. Before there was James there was Wade and he’s the one who all but brought King James to South Beach. From a fan perspective, it was Wade who many had closer and understandable ties to. Given that, there has been a suggestion of jealousy and envy on the part of LeBron.

"This was said to me around the draft, that as much as LeBron meant to Miami, Dwayne Wade was always treated better and I think LeBron wanted that unconditional love you get from your hometown."

Might that have been part of the reason LeBron James decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers? It certainly wouldn’t have been the lone reason but its a sentiment that does seem to make some sense.
