Real Madrid brings a lot of momentum into the game and some new superstars like Colombian striker James Rodriguez, who won the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Still, the show and win came thanks to one of, if not the biggest superstars in soccer, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Late in the first half, Ronaldo scored to give Real Madrid the lead. Teammate Gareth Bale, the big signing from last summer, sent in a ball that curled towards the back of the goal. Ronaldo was crashing that back post and got a foot on it to just redirect it into the back of the net. It was Bale’s beautiful cross to set up the goal that was the real highlight though.

The control and accuracy from across the pitch is just astonishing, and Bale got to do it in front of a crowd in his home country of Wales.

In the second half, Ronaldo added a second goal to give Real Madrid some breathing room over their La Liga rivals.

The second goal came about as a result of some beautiful teamwork and ball movement from Real Madrid. Karim Benzema sent in a beautiful pass to find Ronaldo working his way into the box.

Ronaldo then rips the shot and while Sevilla goal keeper Beto gets his hands on it, he can’t deflect it wide. The ball still curls in to give Madrid the lead and the fans began to sing their praises of Ronaldo.

Real Madrid and Sevilla played out the rest of the second half and each side had some chances. Sevilla couldn’t find the goal to bring them within one and spark a come back, Real Madrid starts their 2014-15 campaign with a Super Cup trophy.
