TMZ’s iPhone 6 photos aren’t the real thing

Early in the morning on Friday, TMZ delighted phone geeks everywhere when it published what appeared to be “exclusive” photos of the upcoming iPhone 6 from Apple.

Unfortunately, what they posted weren’t exclusive photos of the iPhone 6 at all. In fact, they weren’t even of the iPhone 6.

What TMZ did wind up posting were photos of the same, well-known iPhone 6 dummy clone that actually runs on Android using an iOS 7 skin as a cover up.

It’s the same phone, just with an Apple logo on the back of it, that appeared in this video late last month. It’s also the same exact dummy clone that was covered in an article earlier this month on BGR.

“The owner of the phone says the smuggler is his friend — an ex-employee —  who worked in Foxconn’s hardware department designing the outer casing for the new model,” the TMZ report stated.

Sorry, TMZ, but you just got hoodwinked. And it really is quite funny.

The actual iPhone 6, both versions, is expected to be revealed at a launch event in September. Mass production of the phones are slated to being later this month.

Mike’s Musings: Oh my! This is just too rich. Sure, the angles of the photos may be exclusive, but what they got is just another dummy concept that, while may ultimately look like the new iPhone, isn’t the actual device. Just stop.
