Texans defensive end and first-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft tossed the Atlanta Falcons around like rag dolls in the preseason game on Saturday. In his first outstanding play of the game, he attempts to murder the Falcons running back Antone Smith.
His sack on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan wasn’t as monstrous, but it demonstrated the amazing finesse in Clowney’s game. And at the end of the day, a sack is a sack. You don’t have to blow off the player’s helmet on every play. Though, that has come to be the expectation for Clowney. His hands are lightning fast — he stays low and demonstrates superlative balance. Watch how he just blows past the left tackle.
Clowney shows his range in both plays. First, he uses brute strengthen and unparalleled aggression to reck Smith. Then he follows with quickness and agility to get the sack. Amazing.
