Cowboys Tony Romo’s first possession set the bar low — really low. Ravens defensive linebacker Courtney Upshaw scored a touchdown after Romo fumbled during a poor exchange with running back DeMarco Murray. With so much scrutiny during his career, it can’t help Romo’s case that this was how his first drive of the preseason ended.

Ironically, Romo said recently that he wanted to run the ball more. So did Jason Garrett. This won’t stop them. Mistakes like this are why preseason is played — NFL teams need to iron out the wrinkles. But poor Tony Romo, who is just so easy to mock, has managed to make himself an easy target yet again.
Last season, the Cowboys quarterback threw for 3,828 yards, 31 touchdowns, 10 interceptions. He fumbled four times. He was not exactly hemorrhaging turnovers. His career-high for fumbles is eight and for interceptions is 19, a total he has reached twice. Romo is improving, and admittedly, this is likely not a sign of things to come. McFadden has got to keep that elbow up.
