The Buffalo Bills are trying to figure out what to do with their roster to make sure they don’t bottom out again for another straight season, and part of the involves getting the quarterback situation in order.

More from Buffalo Bills

No one is taking the job away from E.J. Manuel, as he’s the franchise quarterback of the future but the role of his backup has grown increasingly important after the rash of injuries that Manuel suffered last season that setback his rookie production. Thad Lewis played some time at quarterback last year in place of Manuel but those days may be numbered.

According to Mike Rodak, the Bills quarterback is on the roster bubble meaning he’s in danger of being cut.

Neither Branch nor Lewis have been all that impressive in the preseason while Jeff Tuel has outperformed Lewis at every turn. Branch has been sluggish at best in the preseason which means that the two former promising players could hear their names called first when it comes time to make the first round of major cuts to the roster.
