There aren’t many flaws in the game of Derrick Rose, though the former league MVP isn’t happy with some of his past performances. Sure, he has hardware on his mantle, but that was an individual accomplishment and D-Rose wants to be known for more than just his ability.

More from Chicago Bulls

Presumably healthy for the first time in nearly three seasons, Derrick Rose says he wants to become a better leader for the Chicago Bulls.

The former Memphis Tiger talent has been drawing rave reviews, not only from fellow players but coaches as well during his training with Team USA and now he says he’s ready to put the Chicago Bulls on his shoulders.

“I think every year you got to add something to your game,” Rose said. “Physically, you’re going to reach that peak where you could damn near do everything you want to on the floor and the game then becomes mentally. Right now, that mental part is my part of the game that I’m missing. That leadership being on the court, getting guys together, just knowing that it’s us against everyone when we’re on the floor.”

While Derrick Rose may not feel as if he’s been much of a leader off the court, it’s hard to suggest he hasn’t been one on it. He may not be the most vocal guy, but he certainly leads by example and when he’s healthy, the Chicago Bulls have proven themselves to be the elite of the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

Assuming Rose maintains his healthy, it’s hard to imagine they won’t be back there again.
