Kevin Durant is one of the best basketball players in the world and he’s about to become one of the richest as well. Outside of massive NBA contract, endorsement deals mean everything to players and Durant has a monster offer on the table from Under Armour.

More from Kevin Durant

It’s been a story that seems like it has little to do with basketball but it actually has everything to do with it. Durant not only dropped out of Team USA’s bid for a World Cup to work on his deal with Under Armour but if he signs the deal he’d be leaving Nike — one of the biggest if not the biggest sportswear merchandiser in the world.

According to Darren Rovell, Durant has a deal on the table from Under Armour as high as $285 million.

If he signs this deal, even if he takes the low-end $265, then Durant would be the highest paid athlete in the world when it comes to a single endorsement deal. Right now, Rory McIlroy has a $250 million deal with Nike, which would be another reason the Nike-Under Armour switch for Durant is significant on the market.
