FC Dallas has been on an impressive run, going unbeaten in 13 games since the start of June. On Friday they’ll get tested against one of Major League soccer’s best in Real Salt Lake. FC Dallas sits in third place while Real Salt Lake sit in second, and if FC Dallas wins they’d take that spot from them.

“Yeah, it’s always going to be tough, playing those teams in the Western Conference that are on the top. We’re right up there and they [Salt Lake] are playing a team that also has one of the best records in the league in us, so I think they’re the ones who should be worried about it more than we should,” FCD captain Matt Hedges said, via the Dallas Morning News.

FC Dallas is hoping they can ride the success of Fabian Castillo, who has eight goals for the season, a single-season high for him in his Major League soccer career.

“I have more confidence in myself,” Castillo said. “The coach gives me more confidence to play. Every year one gets better, get practices in. I think I’m just practicing hard and getting better every year. I think I used to be a very predictable player and now I know how to move a lot better and how to change things up.”
