Alabama Football: Jacob Coker, Blake Sims both listed as starting QB on first depth chart
By Jack Crosby
Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are once again favorites to contend for the national championship in 2014, however they do have a bit of an issue in one department: They can’t seem to decide who will take over the quarterback duties for AJ McCarron. All summer it’s been a back-and-forth debate between Florida State transfer Jacob Coker and Blake Sims. But most thought the situation would be resolved by the time the first depth chart was released.

Well on Monday, just five days before the Tide will take the field against the West Virginia Mountaineers, that was not the case.
In the initial depth chart for the season that was released by Saban, both Coker and Sims were listed as the starting quarterbacks. Brace yourselves, Tide fans, you have a good old-fashioned quarterback controversy on your hands.
It was widely speculated ever since Coker announced he would be leaving Florida State to return to his home state of Alabama that he would be able to come in this summer and steal the job from Sims in no time. Well that has been anything but the case so far, and now it’ll be interesting to see where things go from here.
Saban gave no timetable as to when he could announce a definitive starter, and he may just have them both get some solid reps against a West Virginia team that they should be able to control with their power rushing game.
