Nobody will ever suggest the Brooklyn Nets haven’t put in the finances to make themselves a championship caliber team.

More from Brooklyn Nets

But as we all know, you can’t buy a championship (unless you can convince LeBron James to sign with you) and the Brooklyn Nets have spent a ton of money to be a sub-par team over the past few years. However, now with a presumably healthy roster, might the Nets make some noise this season, even after losing Paul Pierce?

It’s the thought of Nate Duncan who thinks Brooklyn may be a surprise team in the NBA this year.

"A lot of people are picking Brooklyn to miss the playoffs, but if Brook Lopez and Deron Williams are healthier they could surprise a bit."

Such a sentiment is difficult to disagree with given the talent level of both Williams and Lopez. Of course, banking on either player to stay health and not miss an extend period of time is unlikely. When active and healthy, there’s no doubt the Brooklyn Nets could be shockingly good given both are All-Star level talent but relying on either is a scary proposition.

Thankfully for the Brooklyn Nets there should be plenty of parity come the bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoff picture so it’s well within reason to think a postseason birth could be within their grasp. It’s going to take both Deron Williams and Brook Lopez playing at least 70 games to be possible as Brooklyn simply doesn’t have the depth to tread water without their star players.
