Dallas Mavericks rumors: Rashard Lewis unlikely to return
By Bryan Rose
For much of the offseason the Dallas Mavericks and free agent forward Rashard Lewis seemed to have an understanding that the veteran would likely be back in Big D at some point this season.

Dallas of course wanted to get their entire roster setup before bringing Lewis’ contract back into the mix, something Rashard understood was part of business in the NBA. However, after the Mavericks came to terms on a contract with Charlie Villanueva on Monday afternoon, Lewis’ chances of returning to the Dallas Mavericks appear questionable.
That’s the thought of Ira Winderman who believes the Mavericks addition of Villanueva may have just kicked Rashard Lewis to the curb.
Dallas has done a masterful job at adding veteran bench talent this offseason and in the process has become one of the deepest teams in the NBA. Do they still have room for Rashard Lewis? It’s technically still possible, though his already limited playing time would appear to be non-existent if he was to return to the Dallas Mavericks.
Of course, the former high school star is a shell of his former self and was nothing short of end of the bench fodder for the Miami Heat last season.
Lewis signed a one-year contract with the Mavericks earlier this offseason though his deal was later voided due to knee issues arising in a physical taken by the team.
