Los Angeles Lakers asked for Jeremy Lin trade advice
By Bryan Rose
In the midst of free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers made two strong moves – signing Carlos Boozer (who was amnestied by the Chicago Bulls) and trading for point guard Jeremy Lin.

Both additions were made without a head coach though it appears as if the Los Angeles Lakers knew what they were doing all along.
Before bringing in Boozer and Lin, the Los Angeles Lakers contacted Byron Scott for his opinion on both players. Scott would of course be named head coach of the organization a few weeks later.
"Getting Jeremy Lin and keeping all the flexibility for the next two years I thought was fantastic. Carlos Boozer was another steal as far as I was concerned so I thought the moves were great, I would just give my opinion and hoping, alright, sooner or later you’re going to call me and say, ‘You’re going to be coaching this team,’ and I’ll be like, ‘Alright, good,’ because I know these guys pretty well."
While the Los Angeles Lakers interviewed a multitude of potential candidates for their head coaching vacancy, it seemed rather apparent that they wanted Byron Scott from the start. Such is essentially confirmed considering they were seeking out advice from somebody they expected to be their head coach.
It’s great news for the Lakers as you want your head coach to be a big fan of your key players and its clear Scott thinks highly of both Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer.
How much either player will help in the win column though, remains to be seen.
