Report: Buffalo Bills work out quarterback Tajh Boyd
By Dan Zinski
The big news in Buffalo today is the sale of the Bills to Terry Pegula for more than $1 billion. Somewhat farther down the list of major Buffalo developments is the report that the Bills have worked out former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd.

Or maybe I’m underestimating the excitement level surrounding Tajh Boyd?
A 2014 sixth-round pick, Boyd flamed out of Jets training camp after reportedly struggling to pick up the play book. The Bills currently have E.J. Manuel and Kyle Orton on the 53-man roster and Jeff Tuel on the practice squad.
Boyd was a teammate of Bills first-round draft pick Sammy Watkins, but I don’t see how that connection would matter unless they just fear Watkins is feeling lonely and needs one of his old college buddies around to cheer him up.
Per @drocksthaparty, Boyd will have a workout with the Panthers if he does not sign with the Bills.
After quickly flopping in New York, Boyd can look forward to a future of working out with teams looking to add a running QB to their practice squad. The chances of Boyd fighting his way back onto an NFL roster seem pretty remote given his limitations as a passer.
Boyd was an effective college quarterback but there have been big doubts all along about his ability to throw the ball in the NFL. The fact that he couldn’t even learn the play book in New York doesn’t bode well.
