Walsh hurt the foot in last weekend’s win over Missouri State. The injury was originally characterized as a break but Bobby La Gesse of the Ames Tribune confirms that the foot was not broken.
One report had Walsh potentially missing up to 8 weeks.
Junior Daxx Garman finished out the Missouri State game in Walsh’s place and will be the starter this weekend against the tougher-than-you-think UT-San Antonio.
Oklahoma State and their fans aren’t the only ones lamenting the loss of Walsh to this injury. Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight, a friend of Walsh’s, is likely upset too after expressing his hope that Walsh would be back in time for the annual OU-OSU battle:
"That’s unfortunate for him, to see a guy like that go out,” Knight said. “You know they have guys who are going to step up. Hopefully they’ll make a good run so we can have a nice Bedlam match.”"
Bedlam isn’t until Dec. 6 so Walsh has a chance to recover and be back to 100% by then, if we assume the 8 week time table to be correct.
If it’s longer than 8 weeks, it could be pushing it to think Walsh will be back and at full strength in time for Bedlam.
Oklahoma State isn’t even thinking that far ahead though. All they care about is getting through the next game with a backup QB.
