When Angel Pagan is in the San Francisco Giants’ lineup, they’ve proven themselves to be one of the best in Major League Baseball.

And when he’s not? Well, the Giants look to be just another team. Thankfully, unlike last season, San Francisco has been able to keep their oft-injured center fielder out of the training room for most of the year though it appears as if Angel Pagan’s back is acting up at the wrong time.

The San Francisco Giants have been forced to play their last two games without Pagan who is nursing his sore back and it’s possible the veteran may need to undergo offseason surgery to get healthy.

"Center fielder Angel Pagan and the staff have begun formulating a plan to deal with his back during the offseason as they seek a long-term solution to the bulging disk. Manager Bruce Bochy said surgery is an option, but only one of many."

Pagan is a fine player though is routinely dealing with type of injury. Given that, the San Francisco Giants will want to make sure they fix whatever issue is aggravating the back of their leadoff hitter. If that requires surgery, you have to think such will be performed as the last thing San Francisco wants is to have the injury linger into next season.

For now Angel Pagan is going to have to tough things out as he and the Giants attempt to lock up a playoff birth. San Francisco currently leads the National League Wild Card standings and sit three games behind the West leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
