When the final whistle blew, Queretaro was unable to overcome a slow start as Tigres went on to spoil Ronaldinho’s debut with a 1-0 win over the home team.

It didn’t take long for Tigres to get the crowd on edge, however, with United States international Herculez Gomez finding the back of the net for Tigres in the tenth minute to give the club an early 1-0 lead.

Throughout the first half, Tigres was clearly the better side as Queretaro struggled to find any rhythm.

Ronaldinho was having a hard time find touches and the team as a whole left a lot to be desired.

Coming out in the second half, Queretaro had their best opportunity of the match after a foul in the box.

None other than Ronaldinho stepped up to take the penalty, but it was not the result that would have tied the game for Queretaro. Unfortunately for Ronaldinho and Queretaro, the attempt was not even close (video here) and Los Gallos Blancos continued to trail with time starting to run out.

After that opportunity, Tigres started to clamp back down on defense and limited Queretaro’s chances in the final minutes of the match.

Los Gallos Blancos continued to push hard, but they were unable to put together a quality opportunity.

The physicality started to pick up as frustration was mounting for Queretaro. We reached stoppage time and Queretaro had a set piece opportunity that was taken by Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho shot the ball low and it was defended by Tigres, before a deep ball into the box was headed over the back line.

Queretaro got one more chance with a corner kick.

Ronaldinho sailed the ball towards the six-yard box, but it was cleared by Tigres who stormed down the field before drawing a foul. Queretaro found a counter-attck opportunity with the precious  seconds ticking away, but they were ultimately stopped short.
