The New York Jets ended up with an opportunity to drive and tie the game in the final minutes of the fourth quarter of their Monday night showdown with the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately for Geno Smith and the rest of the Jets’ offense, they would have to find a way to do so without new wide receiver Eric Decker.

The Jets made a splashy move this off-season when they signed Decker as a free agent. Assessing him as a true number one option in the passing game and looking to give Smith more weapons with which to work, the Jets inked Decker to a five-year, $36.25 million deal.

Decker’s season has been off to a slow start due to a hamstring injury. He had been listed as questionable for much of the week leading up to Monday’s game, and while he was able to give it a go, Decker was ultimately forced to leave the game early with that same hamstring issue.

Decker had just one catch for 19 yards in this game. The Jets will further evaluate him this week, but they might have reached the point where they will be motivated to rest him for a week to reduce the risk of him re-aggravating this injury in future games.
