The Dallas Cowboys found themselves down in a 21-0 hole to the St. Louis Rams on the road this past Sunday. The Cowboys were able to mount a comeback and get their offense, team and season back on track to pull out the win.

The Rams helped the Cowboys in their comeback in a lot of ways by shooting themselves in the foot with penalties. The Rams were flagged eight times for 119 yards. The Cowboys have a reputation for being a heavily penalized team, but they only had three calls for a total of 15 yards by comparison.

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher thinks the referees missed a few calls against the Cowboys, and by few we mean a lot.

“In my opinion, there were a dozen or so, maybe more, offensive holds that weren’t called (on) the Cowboys,” Fisher said, via the Dallas Morning News.

The Cowboys offensive line has had a reputation for being flagged a lot in recent years, but this is a line with some new faces and young players. Still, the Rams took a step forward despite losing according to Fisher.

“As I said to the team and we agree wholeheartedly with the staff, we took a step forward,” Fisher said Monday. “I thought we played much better. We’ve got to continue to build from that and we’ve got some time to make some little adjustments, look at what we’re doing and get some things corrected.
