Jim Schwartz, the former coach of the Detroit Lions, doesn’t care what sort of reception he gets from Ford Field fans as he returns with his new team, the Buffalo Bills.

Jim Schwartz, who was the head coach of the Detroit Lions for the last five seasons, will make his return to Ford Field on Sunday in his new role, defensive coordinator for the the Buffalo Bills.

And he’s not concerned with the reception he gets.

"“It doesn’t matter,” Schwartz told the Buffalo News. “It’s about the game. That’s certainly not important.”"

Schwartz was hired by the Lions after the infamous 0-16 season in 2008. Within three seasons, he had the Lions in the playoffs for the first time since 1999. But Detroit followed up that playoff season with a 4-12 finish in 2012 and last season, the Lions had a chance to win the NFC North title, leading the division with a 7-5 record with four weeks to play before losing their final four games.

Schwartz’s Lions were 29-51 overall in five seasons and lost their lone playoff game.

But his focus—at least for public consumption—is on the Bills and their chase for their first playoff berth since 1999.

"“It’s an important game for us,” Schwartz said. “It’s a road game and we’re coming off a two-game skid. And we need to be able to get it back, whether it’s the Lions, whether it’s any other team.“Everybody has connections in this league. Every coach has coached somewhere else. Everything else doesn’t play into the game.”"

Buffalo’s defense is ranked 10th in the NFL after four weeks, third against the run.
