New England Patriots waive Kenbrell Thompkins
The New England Patriots offense has struggled mightily all season and on the eve of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals have released one of the underachievers from the unit as Kenbrell Thompkins was waived.

Thompkins was one of Tom Brady’s trusted weapons last year after the undfrated free agent had 32 receptions for 466 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie in 2013, but his second year has resulted in a sophomore slump and had just six catches for 53 yards while appearing in two games.
He was inactive for the Patriots loss on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.
With the open roster spot, the Patriots promoted linebacker Ja’Gared Davis from the practice squad and could see action on special teams on Sunday night against the Bengals and perhaps as a reserve defender.
The Patriots may bring Thompkins back if he clears waivers, but at the very least they will look to right the ship against one of the two undefeated teams remaining in the NFL without a player who showed flashes of being a quality player last year.
