Jim Harbaugh would consider a return to college, but for Kansas, not Michigan

Prior to Week 5 of the NFL season getting underway on Sunday, reports came through that Jim Harbaugh will not be the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers next season, not even if the team were to win the Super Bowl this season. The rift between he and management has hit the point where they just can no longer co-exist.

Of course, with the troubles at Michigan recently, it’s been widely speculated that Harbaugh would head right back to the college ranks to coach at the school that he loves so dearly and fix the mess they have in Ann Arbor.

Well he might want to return to college. And he might, too, want to fix a mess, but it’s not in Ann Arbor, Michigan, rather it’s in Lawrence, Kansas.

According to reports from ESPN, Harbaugh would indeed consider a return to the collegiate ranks where he began to make a serious name for himself in coaching, but it would be for the Kansas Jayhawks.

It’s an interesting turn of events in the saga of “Where can Jim Harbaugh land next,” but it makes sense when thought about.

Harbaugh made that name for himself in college while he was bringing the Stanford Cardinal to prominence. When he took them over, they were one of the laughing stocks of the nation. And while he doesn’t coach there any longer, he set the standard for success in Palo Alto.

With the way the Big 12 is a virtual revolving door anymore these days, who’s to say that he can’t do the same thing with the Jayhawks?
