The New York Knicks hope to look like a much improved team on the floor this season thanks to the addition of head coach Derek Fisher who is in the process of implementing the triangle offense in the Big Apple.

There have also been some subtle roster changes like the addition of Jose Calderon and Samuel Dalembert, though understandably the 2014-15 season is still one of re-building the roster as the New York Knicks wait for some of their large, expiring contracts to come off the books.

One name that has been continually linked to the New York Knicks in free agent/trade rumors is that of Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, though the former All-Star point guard may no longer be a desired piece given his lack of fit in the triangle offense.

While the Knicks have previously attempted to trade for Rajon Rondo before Phil Jackson took over as team president, the New York Post questions if the team will show interest in the former Kentucky star.

"Celtics PG Rajon Rondo, a 2015 free-agent target, is out another five weeks after breaking his hand right before training camp. Rondo could be traded before he hits free agency. Though he is a favorite of Carmelo Anthony, Rondo doesn’t necessarily mesh well in the triangle because he is an average perimeter shooter."

Not only does your point guard need to be a solid shooter but just about everybody on the perimeter also needs to be good from the outside in the triangle offense. Rajon Rondo has improved his shot since his early days in the league and could continue to do so, though there are likely better fits around the league even if they’re not as talented as Rondo.
