The New England Patriots are not in the mood to take Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver Sammy Watkins seriously after he claimed to know that Darrelle Revis will be covering him in their week 6 showdown.

Sammy Watkins is hoping to see his season take off now that Kyle Orton is playing quarterback for the Bills. Earlier this week he expressed his view that he will have his work cut out for him this week, however, because he claimed to know that Darrelle Revis will be covering him when the Patriots take on the Bills.

Watkins, citing a somewhat ambiguous “we,” said earlier this week that he knows Revis will be covering him. “We actually found he’s going to be following me around the field,” Watkins said, “so I’m going to have to be prepared for his jams.”

Asked about that claim from Watkins, the Patriots’ defenders found the rookie receiver to be fairly hilarious. From the Providence Journal:

"That Watkins said he already knows how the Patriots will defend him was a source of some amusement in the New England locker room this week.“Maybe he has a good source,” said Patriots safety Devin McCourty. The question of his assignment was put to Revis himself at Gillette Stadium on Friday.“I can’t tell you the game plan, buddy,” Revis said with a laugh. “I’m looking forward to the game on Sunday. I’m looking for us to go out there and win.”"

As far as the action on the field is concerned, Revis will probably be assigned to Watkins. What, are you going to tell me they would use him on Mike Williams? Still, it’s amusing to see how amused the Patriots were by a rookie wide receiver.
