Ben Tate’s touchdown puts the Browns up 21-3 over Pittsburgh at halftime.

It has been a bit of a trying season for Cleveland’s Ben Tate this year. Tate suffered a knee injury in the week one loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He missed the rest of that game, along with the next two before returning to the field last week against the Tennessee Titans.

He took the running back job back from Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell emphatically with 122 yards last week. This week, Tate got a bit of revenge on the Steelers by scoring his first touchdown of the season on this eight yard run.

This run was the Browns’ third touchdown of a furious second quarter in which they stormed out to a 21-3 lead at halftime over one of their most hated rivals.

Even with that run, Tate was held to just 23 yards rushing on ten carries in the first half. Backup Isaiah Crowell has gained 40 yards on just six carries, and scored the Browns’ first touchdown on the ground.

Crowell has definitely made a case to be given a lot of carries even with Tate back. Will that trend continue in the second half?
