The NFL is currently loaded with young talent, and I think Cam Newton and Andrew Luck would be the first players selected in a league-wide redraft

After writing about who would be the top picks in a NBA redraft, I started to consider the same concept for the NFL.

I first thought picking out 10 players from basketball was tough, but I’ve found it much more difficult this time around. Football is the one sport that is most dependent on an entire team, and I fully believe an argument could be made for nearly 20 players to get drafted in the top 10.

The NFL has become an offensive league dominated by quarterbacks, and that’s why this list will contain six quarterbacks and only two defensive players.

Before the top 10, here are the guys who just missed out.

 Le’Veon Bell

The latest NFL draft brought us another year without a running back selected in the first round (happened in 1963 and 2013). In fact, Bishop Sankey being selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 54th pick was the longest we’ve ever had to wait for a running back to be selected.

So although the running back position isn’t having the same level of importance that it always has, I think Bell is the one young back that deserves consideration for a top pick.

Bell truly is a baby in this league as he turns just 23 in February. Bell had a great rookie campaign last year with 1,259 total yards and eight touchdowns. Surprisingly, Bell returned this season like an entirely different player. After only seven games, the young back out of Michigan State already has 938 total yards and two touchdowns.

He has a bright future and could be the face of the Pittsburgh Steelers very soon.

A.J. Green

I wouldn’t argue with you if you told me Green was the best receiver in the NFL. Like I mentioned earlier, there is a handful of incredible receivers in this league, and it really just comes down to preference when picking them out from one another.

Green had a great rookie campaign after being the fourth pick in the 2011 draft, but it’s what he did in the last two seasons that put him above many players in this league. In just his second and third seasons, Green had a combined 195 catches for 2,776 yards and 22 touchdowns.

He’s been dealing with a foot injury this year, but I expect him to return back to elite form sooner than later.
