The news comes after a battle with anti-NMDA encephalitis, which led to doctors putting Okoye into a medically-induced coma. He missed the entire 2013 NFL season, but was signed by Dallas in May. He has since spent on their non-football illness list in order to gain a full recovery. Once he returns to practice, the team will have 3 weeks to decided which way they will go with him.

Overall, it is a really great time to be a Cowboys fan. The potential addition of Okoye would bolster a defense that ranks 14th in the league with 343.9 yards per game allowed and is tied for 9th with 21 points per game. Defensive end Anthony Spencer just recently returned and is expected to immediately provide a boost. Should that side of the ball catch up to their offense, which ranks 1st in the league in rushing yards per game (159.7) and 3rd with 402.1 total yards per contest.

The Dallas Cowboys currently hold the best record in the NFC at 6-1 and take on the 2-5 Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football.
