The Golden State Warriors have released five players from their roster including NBA veteran Jason Kapono.

With the regular season just days away, the Golden State Warriors had a few difficult decisions to make in regards to who they’d be waiving off their training camp roster.

Attempting to trim the fat, Golden State moved on a from a few promising rookies though it might be the waiving of Jason Kapono which draws the most eyeballs.

A veteran shooter, Kapono seems like a solid fit for the offensively skilled Warriors but with roster spots at a premium, he was simply an odd man out.

"The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Aaron Craft, guard/forward Jason Kapono, guard Sean Kilpatrick, forward James Michael McAdoo and forward Mitchell Watt, the team announced following tonight’s preseason finale against the Denver Nuggets."

Both Kapono and James McAdoo appeared in five preseason games for the Golden State Warriors and appeared to be the two players who the organization was most interested in keeping long-term. However, with limited room thanks to one of the deepest rosters in the NBA the Golden State Warriors couldn’t sign either.

Releasing the five players now puts the Golden State Warriors roster at 15 players, which will be the unit they use to begin the regular season.

As for Kapono, he’s likely to find another home as you can never have enough shooting. Sadly, that’s about all the former UCLA star can do at this point of his career though an end of the bench player with the ability to knock down shots is always welcome.

Much of the same will likely apply for James McAdoo as there will likely be a team willing to waste a D-League spot on him at minimum.
